Alken to Manufacture Tail Fold Lug Fitting for the Sikorsky CH-53K Helicopter

May 2010 – Alken Industires will be manufacturing the Tail Fold Lug Fitting for the Sikorsky CH-53K Helicopter. The Sikorsky CH-53K is a large, heavy-lift cargo helicopter currently under development by Sikorsky Aircraft for the United States Marine Corps.

Alken is Going Green!

Alken has begun a recycling program for paper, bottles and cans. Our first collection was two hampers of waste paper weighing 125lbs. The paper is collected then commingled with other recyclable of the same grade. It is then compressed under pressure in a bailing machine and shipped to a paper mill where the recycling process continues. Every 2,000 lbs of paper recycled saves: 17 trees (7,500 trees alone are used for the Sunday edition of the New York Times each week), 700 gallons of water, 3 cubic yards of landfill. Recycling paper reduces air pollution by 60 lbs and energy by 4,100 kwh. The recycling of paper uses 60% less energy than manufacturing paper from virgin timber.
We expect our paper and cardboard collection amount to only increase as we all continue to join in the program. Bottles and cans will be collected as well, with all proceeds going to employee appreciation activities! Thank you all for participating in our recycling program.
